What is 110%

I always thought when people say they give 110% is just bull...

I feel like some things if you slip up a bit, there will be opportunities that you can try harder and do better.  Other things although, if you are not doing an optimal job the entire time, it is so much harder to gain enough traction to get back into the race with a chance of winning.

Take football for example...  If your team falls behind a touchdown, your team can still try for an interception or fumble and even falling behind 2 touchdowns you can still even take a higher risk play such as an on-side kick.

Racing on the other hand, you need to be consistent throughout that entire race because trying to get lucky is like hoping for someone to get a flat tire and even then, that is only 1 car you are passing by.  Maybe a 5 car pile up, but odds of that happening are very slim to none.

So that extra 10% can be accredited to some luck along with focusing extra hard to be truly giving your 100%.

Next time you hear someone say they plan to give it 110% for a big game, they probably really mean they plan to give it 100% and are praying for 10% luck  =D

Duh... Simple energy solution!!!

After reading an article on slashdot about alternative energy in the USA to use shale mining and its comments, I thought of an idea rather interesting...

First off, the article: here basically talks about how the USA could do shale mining to produce enough energy to become independent from off shore oil while also using a cleaner source of energy.  But then reading in the comments it talks about how it may be cleaner, but still not clean enough to not have global warming issues that would still arise.

In the comments someone mentions "We have also developed better battery technology, building technology for cars to make them lighter and stronger and companies like BP keep buying up the patents on them like on lithium polymer batteries."  So I got to thinking that this is clearly obvious BP is doing this either to prevent new technologies to get released before they maximize their oil profits, and/or so they have the next big energy industry...

So my big idea is if these patents are out there, what is stopping a non-profit group of people from going and creating these technologies that all these energy companies are purchasing??  Why not gather a secret group online that works to recreate this and incorporate these technologies for their own uses, then share with family and friends.  They could even sell kits of all the supplies needed with an article or tutorial on how to easily make this.

If there are technologies that are out there but not getting released because of greed by big corporations that is really hurting the people in the world by many means such as increase pollution, costs, etc then I feel like these companies are stealing from us!

The laws in this world are getting bought and paid for, not designed for the best interests of the people and this planet. This is what I keep seeing and believing to be true more and more, it is sickening!

2nd part / 2nd Idea

"The US government does not drill oil. They lease out the mineral rights to companies such as shell, BP and Exxon who extract the oil and then __sell it on the world market__. Let me say that again. The oil goes into a central market and could be shipped anywhere if the costs are right. Just because its produced here does not mean it stays here."  The above quote is off the same page as linked to above.  Basically pointing out that the oil is not US property, rather the rights to drill to the oil is sold(and at a substantially low price too!)  So my huge idea is why not create a NOT-FOR-PROFIT company that would be drilling and not be giving insane bonuses and salaries to their CEOS.  The not-for-profit oil company could then just sell inside the US at prices much lower than having to buy imported oil which would go directly back into the pockets of all the consumers, in turn giving a dramatic boost to the economy!!!  I bet the majority of households easily spend $100+ per month on gasoline for their transportation, which for some less than middle class households can be a significant percentage of their income.

Of course doing such a thing would affect energy costs around the world and other countries would have larger supply so they too would see their prices at least drop some.  For the big oil companies, of course their profits would go down for lossing the market of the USA.  Also the big oil companies would not be able to basically "steal" the resources from the tax payers by purchasing the land to drill on at mere pennies compared to the resources they are taking out to resell back to the tax payers. =D

Of course government and the elected officials should have thought of this already I would think... unless they get bribed to make such a stupid decision or something!?!

Ultimate Web Browser

I must say Mozilla Firefox is still the best web browser out, even with so much competition.  Internet Explorer has been always troubled with bugs and malicious exploits.  Chrome is very nice being high-security and a minimalist browser.  Yet the addons/extensions for firefox are top notch in my opinion.

To balance security out, I recommend purchasing the software SandboxIE.  This allows your browser to be ran in a much safer environment, so if your browser were to become infected, it would not affect your entire computer system.  Once installed, be sure to setup the software so Firefox is always ran inside the sandbox...  If you ever feel like something is just not right, you can simply delete that 'sandbox' and start over fresh!

Add-ons
My highly-recommend favorite add-ons for Firefox to turn your browser into a 'super browser' are:

BarTab
This very nice add-on can be setup to unload unused tabs after a set amount of time.  Why is it so good?
Well say you have 50 tabs open in your browser...  This will unload any tabs from your RAM memory,    giving your system more resources so your computer run faster.  Plus you can set the program so on loading up Firefox, it will not load up all tabs, which would require using your internet bandwidth to reload every tab.  Great for saving bandwidth if you have to pay, or say you only want to load up 1 page, say your email quickly, you don't have to wait for every page to reload!

* Delicious Bookmarks
A great way to organize your favorite sites and have backed up online.  You can add tags to your favorite sites for easy search, as well as your own description of the site.  You can also share your bookmarks with your friends and family simply sharing your Delicious user name/URL, while you can also have secret bookmarks that only you can view when logged-in to their service.

* Tab Kit
One of my favorite features of Firefox over Google Chrome's browser...  You can have 50 tabs open, and have superior organization capabilities of those tabs.  You can use a hierarchy and also colored tabs.  Say you open 2 windows of two different search ideas;  each tab you open up will appear underneath that first initial tab as well as being color coded.

* Adblock Plus
This add-on has the main purpose of helping to remove ads from web pages.  You must configure this to add a ad-removal filter list which I recommend EasyList.  Not only does this remove those annoying ads from appearing in your browser, it also will speed up your browser.  Those flash/animated ads actually can slow down your computer, especially with multiple tabs opened up with multiple ads.
If for some reason you need/want ads on a particular page, you can choose to disable ads for just that particular site.

* LastPass
For added security and a strong password manager, LastPass add-on.  Sure Firefox has a password manager, but like all other browser password managers, the security is not top-notch.  With LastPass, you create one password to store all your site passwords(it is not recommended to use the same password for every site you need a password, since web sites have been hacked/compromised and user data leaked, that could allow malicious hackers to try your password on other sites as well!)  Not only does this have a password management, but also you can have form filling options to save you from typing your name/email/address etc every time you want to sign up for something.

D.r. u.K.

The Druk (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་) is the "Thunder Dragon" of Bhutanese mythology and a Bhutanese national symbol. A druk appears on the Bhutanese Flag, holding jewels to represent wealth. In the Dzongkha language, Bhutan is called Druk Yul, or Land of Druk, and Bhutanese leaders are called Druk Gyalpo, Dragon Kings - because of Druk. During the Bhutanese mock election in 2007, all four mock parties were called the Druk colour Party[1]. The national anthem of Bhutan, Druk Tsendhen, translates into English as 'The Kingdom of Druk'.

So far after almost a month, I am already feeling more energetic and healthier lungs(clearly noticeable difference) =D

10 years smoking, and being able to quit without the headaches is amazing.... going from a cig with 100+ toxins/tar/chemicals/etc to just a vapor with 1 stimulant(nicotine) is imo, WAY AWESOME

it is hard to give up habits that you really enjoy doing, upgrade to a better alternative ;)
